“From the Archives” - Mel C May 2008

In Elementary School, I was OBSESSED with the Spice Girls. I still am. But, in elementary school they were my Lady GaGa. Mel C (Sporty Spice) was always my fav, I was always her when we played Spice Girls. I used to listen to Wannabe and think to myself “one day, I’m going to meet Mel C, I will do it no matter what”

MISSON ACCOMPLISHED

Only months after seeing the Spice Girls in Vancouver, Kirby and I went to see Mel C on her Solo tour promoting her album ‘This Time’ [which is really good PS]. Since it was general admission we were in line really early (obviously) and her tour bus was right in front so we were hoping we’d see her before the show. SO OF COURSE, 2 min after Kirby leaves to go get Tim Horton’s (with my camera in her purse) Melanie gets off the tour bus and starts heading inside. She stopped and talked to everyone in the line cause she was so cool. EXCEPT NOT ME cause I was so freakin star-struck and having a panic attack because I didn’t have my camera so I literally stood there completely frozen and watched as everyone got hugs, autographs and pictures. Then Kirby got back and I told her what happened and so we cried. I, however did not give up, and sure enough, an hour or two later, she came out again cause she had to go back to the bus. She tried to sneak out quick but I saw her and I was ready, camera in hand, and I shouted “MELANIE CAN I GET A PICTURE PLLEEEEEEEEASE!!!!!!!!!!!” *while running after her*. As you can see, she was totally awesome and took pics and gave us big hugs after. I’m 90% sure I said something stupid like “OMG I’ve been a fan since I was like 7, this is my oldest dream come true!” and it was, which is actually soooo cool.

Then we saw the show front row, and it was AMAZING. She was soo good. Side note, the girl who was VERY FIRST in line was by some fluke, wearing the exact same thing Mel was wearing when she got off the bus. It was hilarious but kinda creepy.
